“Autumn leaves shower like gold, like rainbows, as the winds of change begin to blow.”
- Dan Millman
The Autumn Equinox is fully upon us and yet sadly it is quickly flying by. Myself and my dear friend (plus fellow photographer) made it a point to plan a photo outing to capture all the glory of the fall season before the trees lost all their beautiful colors.
We decided to head to south western Washington to the town of Woodland and finally, for myself, visit the Cedar Creek Grist Mill for the first time! Woodland is about 21 minutes from Vancouver, WA and 29 minutes from Portland, OR so if you’re looking to have a fun weekend adventure there many places close by to stay.
I imagined the surrounding nature of the Mill to be a bit more expansive but honestly I was not disappointed one bit. The rushing water and surrounding forest made for a very calming afternoon. It was a pretty chilly day so if you plan on visiting in fall as well I suggest bringing more layers and particularly gloves.
I would also suggest arriving earlier around 10:30-11am as it can get fairly busy. We arrived around noon and were able to get most of our photos taken before it got too busy around 12:45p. Parking is limited and the road leading in can get a little slippery from the leaves on a rainy day like we experienced.
Please enjoy some of my favorite photos from the adventure and thank you to my dear friend for the lovely portraits! All portraits are taken by BLiesse Photo.
